The Lucayan Story
The peaceful Lucayans were the first to:
- Inhabit The Bahamas & the Turks and Caicos Islands,
- The first to welcome the Italian explorer Christopher Columbus to the New World in 1492, and
- The first to suffer total genocide within the modern Americas.
Calling the waters of The Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Lucayan Sea, is therefore a tribute to the life and legacy of the Lucayans, and a reminder to us to do our part to make the world a more peaceful place.
