The Lucayan Sea Map is a historic map created as a tribute to the life and legacy of the peaceful Lucayans, who were the first inhabitants of The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands. Their journey began on the shores of south America and ended within 30 years of Christopher Columbus’s first landfall in the Americas on an island in The Bahamas.
The Lucayans came to The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands in search of peace and rest away from the war-faring Caribs. Their subsequent demise at the hands of European explorers made them the first to be enslaved and to suffer genocide at the dawning of the modern Americas.
The Lucayan Sea map is a first of its kind and features The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands along with an overview of the Lucayan legacy. The map also highlights major ports of calls for cruise ships as well as possible sites where Columbus may have made his first landfall according to some researchers.
